How far is the Disneyland Hotel from Disneyland? It’s a roughly five-minute walk to the parks and Downtown Disney, where you’ll find plenty of dining and shopping.
If you don’t want to walk, you can ride the monorail to Disneyland Hotel from inside the park (it drops you in Downtown Disney, a short walk from the lobby).
The closest airport is John Wayne (SNA) in Orange County, about 15 miles from the resort. LAX is bigger and usually cheaper to fly into, but budget around an hour of driving depending on the traffic gods.

The pools are sprawling and heavily themed. Named after the old Disneyland ticket tiers, the D-Ticket and E-Ticket pools give you plenty of room to spread out. There’s also a hot tub that is, inevitably, full of children.
The highlight is the Monorail-themed water slide section. The slides deposit into their own splash pool, so you don’t have to worry about someone landing on your kid mid-swim.
There are always plenty of highly vigilant lifeguards on duty. Servers will bring cocktails right to your chair. No need to get up.

Guests must be at least 14 to use the facility, and at least 17 to visit alone.

On top of the restaurants in the hotel itself, Downtown Disney and the other two resorts are within walking distance. There is no shortage of dining options.

10. What Are the On-Site Perks (and What Changed in 2026)?
Here’s the big one, and it’s the part of this post that changed the most. For years, the marquee perk of staying on property was a 30-minute early entry to the parks every morning. That daily head start is going away.
Disney’s last day of the old Early Theme Park Entry was January 4, 2026. Starting January 5, 2026, on-property hotel guests instead receive one free Lightning Lane Multi Pass entry per stay — a single ride skip for your whole trip, not a 30-minute jump every day. (If you booked a stay before January 5, 2026, you keep the traditional early entry.)
Why does this matter so much? The old perk let on-property guests rope-drop the park and gobble up the short morning lines before off-property guests could get in. The new perk is a nice freebie, but it does not give you that same daily advantage. If “beating the crowds every morning” was your whole reason to pay on-property prices, recalibrate — the real value now lives in the location, the theming, and those pools.
A couple of related notes while you’re planning: Disney’s paid line-skip is now called Lightning Lane (Multi Pass, Single Pass, and a premium Premier Pass), not Genie+ or MaxPass. And unlike Walt Disney World, Disneyland still requires a park reservation for each day on top of a valid ticket, which you can make in the Disneyland app.
